More infoWelcome to BaseLang! You’ve signed up for our 7-day trial, and we want to help get the most out of the next few days.
Here’s everything you need to know to hit the ground running and make progress with BaseLang.
1. Start With Your Welcome Class
You’ve already booked your welcome class—excellent first step! Here’s what to expect:
- Your teacher will give you a comprehensive platform tour
- They’ll assess your current Spanish level
- No prep needed—just show up and your teacher will guide you.
Pro Tip: Install Zoom before your class starts to avoid wasting valuable learning time.
2. Understanding Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is a proven roadmap to speaking Spanish fast.
If you’re just getting started, we recommend following our curriculum — it’s the fastest and most structured way to build a strong foundation. You’ll cover essential grammar, practical vocabulary, and real-world conversation skills in a logical, step-by-step progression.
That said, following the curriculum is completely optional.
If you’re more advanced, or prefer to focus on conversation or custom topics, you can do that too.
Most intermediate and above students find that a mix of structured lessons and conversation practice works best.
How It’s Structured
The curriculum is divided into 9 levels, containing:
- Core Lessons – These follow a clear, step-by-step sequence and teach you the essential building blocks of Spanish—grammar, vocabulary, and structures that form the foundation for speaking confidently in real-life situations.
- Electives – Starting from Level 3, you’ll complete a set number of these per level. Electives let you personalize your learning with topics like travel, business, or medical Spanish.
Why Our Method Works
Our lessons are designed to be studied with a teacher. Early on, you’ll focus more on the theory of the language, laying the foundation with grammar and structure. As you progress, the focus naturally shifts toward speaking practice—so you can start applying what you’ve learned in real conversations.
How to Progress
- Book classes with teachers and complete the next lesson on the curriculum
- Mark each Core Lesson and Elective as complete to track your progress
- Check your dashboard to see how many lessons and electives remain for your current level
- Once you’ve completed everything for a level, let your teacher know—they’ll guide you through a short level test and officially move you up.
3. You’re in Complete Control
One of BaseLang’s biggest advantages is flexibility—you decide what to focus on in every class.
Most students follow our Core Curriculum, especially in the beginning, since it’s the fastest, most structured way to build a strong foundation in grammar, vocabulary, and conversation skills.
Once you reach intermediate and advanced, you can mix it up and decide to use your class time for different activities.
For example,
- Conversation-only practice
- Roleplays (travel situations, job interviews, etc.)
- Deep dives into specific grammar topics
- Reading and discussing articles together
Your teacher is always willing to customize the class to your goals.
You can let the teacher know what you want to cover in each class by submitting the class topic ahead of time using this feature.
4. Learn from 350+ Amazing Teachers
With BaseLang, you’re not limited to just one teacher—you have access to our entire team of over 350 incredible tutors.
Finding Your Perfect Match
We recommend trying several different teachers when you start. Each has their own teaching style and strengths, allowing you to find the ones who best complement your learning style.
Favorite Your Top Teachers
When you find teachers you love, mark them as favorites by clicking the ❤️—this gives you extended booking privileges (7 days in advance instead of 5). Most students eventually settle into a rotation of 2–3 favorite teachers.
Stay on Track—With Any Teacher
Don’t worry about losing track of your progress between teachers. Behind the scenes, we keep a detailed progress sheet for each student, where teachers leave notes after every class. This ensures that no matter who you book with, your next teacher will know exactly where you left off and what you’re working on.

Q: Do I have to stick with one teacher?
A: Nope—take as many as you’d like! We actually encourage it. Trying different teachers helps you find the ones you click with. Most students end up sticking with 3–5 favorites.
Q: How far in advance can I book classes?
A: You can book classes up to 5 days in advance—or 7 days in advance with your favorite teacher.
