Real World comes with two programs

  • Real World

  • DELE

Real World is like learning how to drive a car.

Level 0 to 3 (Beginner)

Driving feels a bit scary. You start by learning the rules of the road, and practicing in a parking lot.

As a beginner student, most of your core lessons will be focused on learning some fundamental grammar and vocabulary. You won’t waste time learning unnecessary information that isn’t needed until a later stage, and instead will learn the building blocks of the Spanish language.

Level 4 to 6 (Intermediate)

You’re practicing on calm roads, gaining confidence and constantly learning. You notice that driving doesn’t feel that scary.

Now that you know the fundamentals, we’ll start teaching you some more complex grammar and vocabulary that is essential to becoming a solid Spanish speaker. As you progress through the levels, you’ll notice that each lesson contains more opportunities and prompts to practice speaking with your teacher.

At this point we also introduce Electives, which allows you to choose lessons based on your specific interests. While core lessons teach you the fundamentals, electives allow you to develop your conversational skills around topics that interest you. We have over 160 electives on topics ranging from business, to environmentalism and more.

Level 7 to 9 (Advanced)

You realize that you’re suddenly a confident driver. You put in the hours, trusted the process and now you’re confident enough to drive on the highway or cross country.

At this stage you need just a few more lessons to learn some of the advanced grammar we didn’t cover in earlier levels.

But most of your time will be allocated to doing conversation practice and electives, both of which are designed to help you become a proficient Spanish speaker.

Loved by students like you.

Viva

I was really surprised with how quickly I improved after signing up to BaseLang. After completing the first few levels and learning some grammar and verb conjugations, I was able to have more and more complex conversations in Spanish with my boyfriend. Now that I have the basics, I try to speak to his family and friends in Spanish. Of course, I make a lot of mistakes, but everyone really appreciates the effort and they encourage me to keep trying.

Viva's Story
A man smiling while taking a selfie, wearing glasses and headphones. Behind him are colorful markers arranged on a shelf along with various office supplies.

Amardeep

Constant practice is the key to getting better at anything. And when something is fun, it’s even easier to put in the work (you won’t even realise you’re doing it!). BaseLang allows you to have practically as many classes as you want, and with sooooo many teachers to choose from, it’s easy to find some you’ll click with and that will become more like your friends. From there, the journey becomes easy.

Amardeep's Story
A young woman smiling while standing in front of the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu, surrounded by lush green mountains under a cloudy sky. She is wearing a blue beanie and a black jacket.

Sarah

Within just a few weeks I found my confidence improved exponentially and I found I worried less about making mistakes because of the relaxed environment my teachers created in lessons. I initially set out to do 3 hours a week as to make the most of my subscription but found I was doing 7 or more as I enjoyed it so much – I would even try and fit one in my lunch break whilst working from home!

Sarah's Story
A bald man in a blue shirt smiling and waving at a laptop on a desk, showing a video call with another man. The workspace includes papers and stationery.

Kevin

I have always struggled most with my confidence level. When trying to respond to a question in Spanish, or simply have a short conversation with a Spanish speaker, I would freeze up.

I would recommend this course to anyone who is apprehensive about speaking Spanish with confidence. I have developed a great rapport with three teachers in particular who encourage me to speak without apprehension

Kevin's Story
A young man with curly hair and glasses smiling at the camera, with two computer monitors displaying text and images in the background.

Adam

The ability to take hours of classes consistently every day is absolutely essential for improving your Spanish. In addition, the in-depth and structured curriculum make sure that there is a plan in place to facilitate your development.

Adam's Story
A man smiling and posing for a selfie while video chatting with a woman on a computer screen. The background shows a bright room with decorations and a desk with various items.

Christopher

I never really spoke any Spanish prior to BaseLang. I only listened and memorized vocabulary. Now, I have the confidence to start a conversation in Spanish with a complete stranger.

Christopher's Story
A man with glasses and red hair smiling and giving a thumbs-up in front of a wall covered with sheets of paper.

Brett

BaseLang has helped me progress further than any other method I’ve tried and that is my ultimate goal. I’ve found that this format has been easier and more fun to stick with than any other methods, too. I’m still learning and I’m still enjoying it, and that’s what matters to me.

Brett's Story
A young woman smiling at the camera while participating in a video call, sitting at a desk with a laptop and an external monitor displaying another person on the screen. A keyboard is visible in front.

Hannah

BaseLang is a great way to chalk up hours of practice just speaking and using what you have learned. You can sign up for classes every half an hour, and there is so much flexibility regarding what you can do during class. You drive the agenda, and the tutors are here to help you achieve your goals.

Hannah's Story
A woman with short curly hair wearing a patterned apron smiles while standing in a kitchen. There are various cooking ingredients and utensils visible on the counter behind her.

Christie

I LOVE how flexible it is, that you can book anytime, cancel if you need to, and that the classes are unlimited. So, if you have lots of time you can do what fits your time and your desires. I also really love meeting the many, many teachers BaseLang has and having a connection with people in other parts of the world.

Christie's Story
A man with glasses smiling while taking a selfie, with his laptop showing a woman in glasses smiling back during a video call. The background includes a door and a glimpse of room decor.

Chris

I don’t tend to focus much on taking structured lessons, since I already have a pretty strong foundation with the language. However, being able to connect with so many different teachers and to have such diverse conversations has been really valuable in increasing my comfort with speaking the language and learning new vocabulary related to topics I like to discuss.

Chris's Story
A woman wearing sunglasses and a white halter top stands smiling in front of a scenic view of a historic building and trees against a clear blue sky.

Julianna

I was provided a safe space where I could learn Spanish without any prejudices and it was lovely. The program is really good, you can also learn words and the grammar which is really helpful in my experience.

Julianna's Story
A man with short, styled hair takes a selfie in a plaza with historic buildings in the background. A large flag is visible to the left, and people walk around the square.

Kris

I like the electives because you can develop the skills to talk about specific topics, like travel or business, in Spanish. Now I’m able to make friends in Mexico who don’t speak English, as well as handle day to day living situations in Spanish.

Kris's Story
A woman with long dark hair and glasses is smiling at the camera. She is wearing a simple top and appears to be in a well-lit indoor setting.

Janice

The teachers are student centered. Sometimes I just want a conversation and they will do that with you. Sometimes, I want to read a book with them so I can share my screen and read the book out loud with them and then we can go through pronunciation corrections or have a discussion about the content. They are flexible and this program is flexible.

Janice's Story
A woman wearing headphones and a pink sweater smiles while sitting next to a window, using a laptop. Sunlight softly illuminates the scene, highlighting the relaxed atmosphere.

Jessica

BaseLang transformed me from a shy, hesitant speaker, to a pretty fluent conversationalist on all kinds of topics. I was able to improve my Spanish enough that I was able to converse with clients without an interpreter, which put me at the top of the list for a promotion to the immigration practice.

Jessica's Story
A person smiling while holding a tablet that displays another person smiling on a video call. In the background, there are bottles on a shelf and a statue figure.

JoJo

You can freely advise the professors of how you like the classes to be run – you can focus on a specific grammar lesson, or you can just talk about or enquire of a Spanish article, video or music you’ve encountered. Classes can be tailored based on your learning style and the professors are always very accommodating and lovely!

JoJo's Story
A person sitting cross-legged on the shore of a lake, wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt and a blue cap. Behind, dramatic mountains rise under a clear blue sky with patches of snow.

Jack

BaseLang is seriously on par and in a lot of ways better than total immersion in a Spanish-speaking country. Talking with natives one-on-one is as good as it gets for learning. More importantly, I have found myself, my inner passion, and my confidence with BaseLang. BaseLang has given me the tools that I need to dive deep into the Spanish learning process and emerge improving day after day.

Jack's Story
A young man smiling at the camera with short, light brown hair. In the background, a person is smiling on a computer screen.

Joe

I was immediately impressed by the flexibility of the platform. With as little as five minutes notice I was able to start speaking with native speakers from all across Latin America as much or as little as I wanted. It was amazing how I could get used to listening to a range of accents, which would prepare me for real-world interactions.

Joe's Story
A woman with curly hair sitting at a table, smiling while looking at the camera. A water bottle and papers are on the table in a well-lit room with indoor plants in the background.

Kim

I enjoy BaseLang for many different reasons. My confidence level has risen as a result, as well as my vocabulary and verb tenses. It is great to have someone that I can communicate with in Spanish in a non-intimidating way. I can make mistakes and they are very patient. I get to speak about many different topics, which increases my vocabulary.

Kim's Story
A woman with glasses smiling at a laptop showing a smiling man on a video call. The setting is a kitchen with countertops and a sink in the background.

Aliza

I really enjoy the fact that I can structure classes based on my interests and needs and sort of take charge of my learning. At this point in my Spanish journey, that’s what I need. I enjoy using other sources with my teachers to improve my Spanish, including reading articles to improve my vocabulary, reading comprehension and pronunciation.

Aliza's Story
A woman with curly hair and hoop earrings smiles at the camera while holding a laptop. The background shows a softly lit room with warm tones.

Stacy

My ability to feel confident when speaking has improved dramatically. Now I am able to speak with my mother over the phone and send my cousins text messages via WhatsApp completely in Spanish. I can listen to songs and watch series on Netflix – I don’t understand everything but every week I am able to understand more.

Stacy's Story
A man smiling while holding a laptop displaying a Zoom video call with an image of a large house on the screen. The setting includes light-colored window blinds in the background.

Brian

There’s no better way to learn a language than to get face to face with a native speaker who’s willing to show you the way. BaseLang has a plan to help you structure all the technical aspects of the language, and it provides a way for you to get instant feedback “out in the wild” by having conversations with some of the most awesome teachers you’ll ever meet.

Brian's Story
A woman smiling and waving at a laptop screen, which shows another woman wearing headphones and waving back during a video call.

Tanisha

I honestly haven’t seen any other program quite like this one; with unlimited hours to practice, a DELE program, and this big of a variety of different teachers. It has really exceeded my expectations and I’ve progressed much faster than I thought I would. Learning a language is not easy and full immersion of the language is probably the fastest way to learn, but not everyone can get up and leave to go live in another country.

Tanisha's Story
A woman with long brown hair smiling while sitting at a desk with notebooks and pens. A drawing of a green leaf is visible in the background.

Shonna

BaseLang has given me the confidence to speak fluidly, without thinking too hard about grammar, conjugation, etc. The professors are patient and since I spend so much time in BaseLang I really have improved my speaking skills. Now I feel super comfortable speaking to people on the street, even though my Spanish isn’t perfect (probably won’t ever be!).

Shonna's Story
A close-up portrait of a woman with curly hair, smiling while looking directly at the camera. She has a natural appearance and is wearing a black shirt.

Corinne

With the goal of wanting to live abroad in a Spanish speaking country, I continued with BaseLang to prepare myself for the C1 DELE exam.  Two months after taking the exam, I received the exciting results that said that I had passed the exam.  I greatly appreciate BaseLang for their excellent quality of professors and learning material.

Corinne's Story
Two smiling individuals standing close together near a body of water. One person is wearing glasses and a leather jacket, while the other is wearing a purple coat. The background shows trees and water.

Michaela

I now feel comfortable starting conversations and asking questions in Spanish! I am amazed. I have been a lifelong learner of languages and this is truly the first program I have found that is so comprehensive, thorough, and walks WITH you through each lesson as your own pace and schedule to help you succeed.

Michaela's Story
A man and a woman posing together outdoors with a young child in a floral dress. The man is wearing a green shirt and jeans, while the woman is dressed in a black and gray outfit. They stand in front of a decorative stone structure.

Lauren

I always felt like I had a good comprehension of the Spanish language and that I could understand 75% of what was being said to me. Now responding back to that person accurately and effectively was a whole different story. My grammar has always been the weakest component when learning Spanish, however with the approach that BaseLang has used in order to correct my deficits, I have improved significantly in this area.

Lauren's Story
A man and a woman posing together outdoors with a young child in a floral dress. The man is wearing a green shirt and jeans, while the woman is dressed in a black and gray outfit. They stand in front of a decorative stone structure.

Lauren

After demonstrating and discussing my progress with many Spanish speaking individuals, they all commented how my speech was much more fluid and I was making fewer errors. In addition, I feel more comfortable speaking and am less embarrassed, which for me is a huge win!

Lauren's Story
A person sitting cross-legged on the shore of a lake, wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt and a blue cap. Behind, dramatic mountains rise under a clear blue sky with patches of snow.

Jack

BaseLang has helped me significantly and is by far the greatest resource for learning Spanish. I have fallen in love with the process. I have learned how to make mistakes, and that these mistakes are a part of the process, that they are only a guide telling me how and where I need to improve. My confidence has risen. The feeling of carrying a natural conversation about an extremely interesting topic for 2 hours straight with my favorite teachers is incomparable.

FAQ

Where are BaseLang teachers from?

We have teachers from all over Latin America - mostly from Colombia or Venezuela, but also from Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Peru. While we don’t have any teachers from Spain, we do have a number of teachers who have experience teaching Castilian Spanish (Spanish from Spain).

Do teachers speak English?

Yes. Most teachers do speak English, but we also have a ton of teachers who only speak Spanish. The idea is that as you progress through our programs, you’ll eventually switch to using teachers who only speak Spanish.

When are classes available?

BaseLang has classes available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. You can book classes at the very last minute (literally), or book five days in advance to plan ahead.

What happens if I need to cancel a class?

Simply log into the platform and cancel your class. There’s no penalty for cancelling a class, and and teachers get paid regardless of whether you take the class or not.

However, we that students cancel the class as far in advance as possible so that another student can potentially book that slot.

Is BaseLang suitable for beginners?

Yes. In fact, most BaseLang students sign up with little to no experience learning Spanish. Our program is designed to accommodate all levels, whether you're a complete beginner starting at hola, an intermediate, or even someone more advanced.

In your first class, our teachers will do a quick placement test and place you at the appropriate level.

Is the Real World program really unlimited?

Absolutely! Whether you do five hours a month, or five hours every day, the price is the same. In fact, we want you to take lots of classes so that you replicate an immersive environment. That way you'll see your Spanish progress explode.

What about study materials?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Each program has it’s own curriculum with lessons that you can follow with a teacher, not to mention the fact that we’ll give you access to our free flashcard course that you can use to reinforce what you covered in each class. For students who want extra practice, we even have homework lessons that you can do outside of class.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

Yes. There’s no hidden contract or sneaky terms and conditions. After your trial period, you pay month to month. When you want to cancel, all you need to do is select cancel in the billing section of your account, and you won’t be charged again.

But what does the 35-day guarantee mean?

Our crazy guarantee means that If at any point in the first 35 days you don’t absolutely love BaseLang, then cancel and drop us a message. Not only will we give you a full refund, but we’ll send you $20 for wasting your time.
